Huge League Announcement

As most of you know by now we have closed our sister league, the XFA due to inactivity and have decided to combine the two into one great league, The BDML.

With that said the BDML has been very inactive as well these days. Right now, we are 3 days in and have 10 unplayed games and almost as many that are not scheduled.

With that said, two days ago the League Committee held a meeting to decide the future of the league and what we need to do to build activity back up. We kicked around several ideas but the one that kept kicking back was what this post is about.

Effective immediately the BDML, as we know it, is closing our doors. Due to several bad trades, league inactivity and other considerations, such as the learning curve of transfering over from PC to a console league. The BDML is closing.

Do not fret my pets. This is for a good cause and the chance to be reborn, to grow stronger and we are re-opening as quickly as we close. So what does this all mean?

This means the BDML has been reinvented. We have restructured the front office with new Co-Commish’s in the mix to help run the day-to-day operations, new rules and most of all a new direction & dedication to being great. Check the League Staff page for information on who is now in charge.

We have also edited the league rules, most notably the trade rules, to help keep the teams in tack and more realistic. I suggest every GM read the League Rules for the updates.

With the rebirth comes a restart as well. The plan is to set all teams back to true NFL rosters, with this they will also be as up-to-date as possible. Example, J. Peppers will be a Bear.

The restart won’t be popular with everyone we know, but it is in the best interest of the league as we plan to run through the entire summer and to be able to attrack fresh blood, we felt we needed to restructure, restart and change the trade and other rules to be more effective and grow into a stronger league as a whole.

The good news, we have simmed season 1 and will open with a NFL draft.

The plan moving forward is as follows:

1. All teams will need to sign up for the new franchise, this will need to be done by Friday night. Any team not claimed by then will be considered open to new GM’s that we will be recruiting over the next few days.

(Take the team you currently are when signing up, unless you have agreed to a trade with another GM and have commish permission as well.)

League Name: The BDML – League Password: 21

2. Once signed up for the franchise all teams will be required to post four franchised players. See this forum for more info. No trades can happen until you have done this.

3. Once signed up for the franchise and franchised players are posted teams can begin to post trade blocks and post trades. Be sure to read these new Trade Rules before doing so. (Also read below for info on who can’t be traded.)

4. We will hold the BDML draft on Saturday night at 9pm est. (Time is subject to change). Any team that does not show for this draft will have the CPU control the draft for them. If you trade a draft pick and don’t show your trade will be voided.

Notes:

We will finish updating free agents after the draft, as of now the franchise will not allow us to continue until the draft is over.

The league staff plans to update the rosters as much as possible up to an hour before we draft. What that means is, any FA that signs with an NFL team between now and Saturday night at 8pm est or already has signed with a team, will be updated on the BDML rosters as well.

With that said NO RFA or UFA, on any BDML team, may be traded. If there is a chance that guy could switch NFL teams he can not be traded until after the final rosters are set Saturday night. This means do your homework before working out trades or they will be voided, rejected by the league.

Finally, any questions ask. Also if you do not plan to continue with the league due to the restart/restructure please let a commish know, so we do not waste time holding your team until Fridays sign up deadline. We will be recruiting new GM’s this week to fill up the league so please do not waste our time.

Also, all inactivity moving forward, will not be taken lightly, miss a game without posting in vacation forums or a good reason, slack on posting scheduling in the forums, or whatever and you will be subject to being replaced sooner then later.

Thanks guys and get r done………

Under The Hood – Week 7 Edition

Welcome to this edition of “Under The Hood” where we cover everything league related, from trades to rumors and everything in between. This week we will discuss the first 6 games of the season, transactions, rumors and everything in between.

The first 6 weeks:

The first six weeks of the BDML season have been anything but boring. Several teams that flopped last year are flying high this season and a few of the better teams have fallen on hard times, but that’s the BDML where anyone can win, on any given Sunday.

The Steelers, who finished last in the AFC North just one year ago with a 4-12 record are now the leaders of the division at 5-1. A solid draft and some great off season moves have payed off thus far on the season for them, but their is still too many games left to know exactly where things will lead for Pittsburgh. Another bottom feeder from a year ago, the Buccaneers, are playing competitive football after an off season overhall as are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Currently on a downslide after great seasons just one year ago are the Minny Viks, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers and the defending champion, Houston Texans. New management could be the blamn for a few of these under achievers but the others are just not getting it done or the same breaks they got last year. The biggest suprise would be the Chargers who made so many changes this past off season that the team just does not seem to have any chemistry and all the new players just can’t seem to get on the same page.

Season Trades:

Welcome to St. Louis, yes Mr. Edwards the nightmare continues as the Cleveland browns made a surprise move that sent all pro WR, Braylon Edwards to the Rams for RT, Jason Smith. Both teams tossed in a few fillers to even up the trade but in the end, Edwards got his wish to be traded from the lowly Browns, the problem is the grass may not be any greener on the other side.

In other trade news A. Bolden will no longer be fighting for balls with Larry Fitzgerald or catching them from Kurt Warner, now he will fight Randy Moss and Wes Welker for them as the Cardinals granted his wish sending him to New England for Vince Wolfork. The Ravens lost all hope in Joe Flacco and sent him to purgatory for another down trodden QB, Jamarcus Russell, as the Raiders and ratbirds would swap signal callers.

The Steelers would acquire Chaz Schilens from the Raiders for Willie Parker and Schilens has not been a disappointment as he is Pittsburghs leading receiver. Ray Lewis is now a Titan as Keith Bullocks moved to Baltimore. Larry Johnson moved to San Diego, while L. Tomlinson is now a Chief.

Finally the BDML has had it’s first ménage à trois as the Titans, Vikings and G-nats got down and dirty on a three way trade that included, ah screw it, read the forums and try to figure it out.

BDML Rumor Mill:

On the rumor mill front, word is that the Cinncy Bungals head coach is gay and has been MIA these days while pursuing his dream of legalization of gay marriage. other rumors have both the Steelers and Colts looking to trade first round picks to acquire much needed help. The Steelers are after bodies on the offensive-line while the Colts are looking for a WR or shut down CB.

Surprise Teams:

The Steelers have to be one of the biggest surprise teams of the season as they have turned it around from 4-12 last season to 5-1 during this campaign. On the other side of the win, loss column the Chargers have to be the leagues biggest disappointment as they have fallen on hard times and are sitting at 2-3. The defending champion, Houston Texans, would have the honor of biggest downfall if not for the fact they are currently under new management and you can’t compare this team to last years for that same reason.

Well thats all folks. Until next time thanks for reading “Under the Hood” and if your team would like to leak a rumor or two for the next edition be sure to PM steelerguy26 with the information in the forums.

Under The Hood – Week 1 Edition

Welcome to the first edition of “Under The Hood” a new section of the BDML that will cover anything League related from trades to rumors and everything in between. This week we will discuss the off season, transactions, rumors and week one of the season.

The Off-Season:

The BDML made it through our first off-season and though it was rough and a little confusing the staff learned what they will need to do the next time around to make things run smoother. Rest assured the next OS will be a much better experience for the entire league.

Some crazy stuff happend during the OS and a few teams went wild making changes to their roster. The Chargers and Colts swapped QB’s, The Steelers snatched up all the draft picks they could get their greedy little hands on and the Buccaneers retooled damn near their entire team. The only questions that reamin is will the roster make-overs help any of these teams much less the rest of the league do any better then they did last season?

Week 1 Transactions:

The Buccaneers where in need of depth at the WR position even after a complete rebuild during the off-season and signed the much meligned and well traveled Reggie Williams.

The Steelers signed LG Daniel Loper to fill out their o-line depth, the Jaguars offered a contract to QB Chris Redman due to an injury to David Garrard (more on that later). Needing depth on the o-line the Colts penned RT Blake Sanders.

Week 1 Trades:

After so many draft picks the Steelers were still in need of a quality slot reciever going into week 1. With an injury to one of their back ups it was apparent a trade had to happen. After some complicated trade talks with the Raiders the Steelers were able to reach a deal that would send HB Willie Parker to Oakland for slot man Chaz Schilens.

“We felt it was a ddeal we had to make. Though Parker will be missed, Rashard Mendenhall is our starter and we drafted a HB to be his back up. Schilens was a need we had and it showed in the loss to the Ravens. We now feel we have a solid WR corps and are ready to move forward.” said Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.

The raiders would Make another trade that involved the Packers as they sent RE Matt Shaughnessy to Green Bay for a 3rd round draft pick in the 2011 draft.

The Titans and Panthers also made a trade week one that would see SS Chris Harris & CB Richard Marshall head to Tennessee and SS Chris Hope and CB Nick Harper head to Carolina.

BDML Rumor Mill:

A source deep inside Baltimore Ravens head quarters have told BDML insiders that they are looking to trade either Ray Rice or Willis MaGahee as the two can no longer exist in the same backfield. The source stated that both players have been lobbing for more playing time and the team feels the only way to do that is to trade one of them for a team need. Rumor has it that the San Diego Chargers have shown interest in Rice and are currently in negotions for his services.

Week 1 Suprise Team:

The Buccaneers were the worst team in the BDML last season but after their make over they are looking like a team that will compete this time around as they downed the Falcons week 1 45-17 and ran wild on them as both their HB’s went over a houndred yards rushing with Cedric Benson gaining 142 and Felix Jones 223 yards respectively.

Well thats all folks. Until next time thanks for reading “Under the Hood” and if your team would like to leak a rumor or two for the next edition be sure to PM steelerguy26 with the information in the forums.

BDML Top 10 Mock Draft

2010 BDML Top 10 Mock Draft
1. Buccaneers – OLB – Josh Sneed

The Bucs are in need of help on both sides of the ball but the defense is in need of a play maker and Sneed provides that for the Bucs.

2. Colts – OLB Torian Watts

The Colts could use a play maker at WR and could go Jamarion Bellows with this pick but they will opt for a stud at OLB to fill a defensive void instead by selecting Torian Watts.

3. Steelers – CB – Juran Riley

The Steelers need help on the defensive & Offensive lines and a true shut down corner, they could also use a WR to groom to replace Hines Ward in a year or two but will opt for the corner back they need with this pick.

4. Titans – QB – Jack English

The Titans are not sold on Vince Young leading this team and rumor has it he is on the trade block so look for the Titans to grab this years best QB with their selection. If not English the Titans could opt for MLB Mack Jackson to help their LB corps get younger.

5. Redskins – QB – Kelley James

The Skins are hoping Jack English falls to them but if he don’t look for James to be their selection as Jason Campbell is on his last legs in DC.

6. Dolphins – WR – Jemarion Bellows

The Dolphins selected Ted Ginn Jr. a few years back but he has not panned out as a true number one option so look for the Phins to grab their man with this pick.

7. Bills – HB – Leron James

The Bills could opt to go QB with this pick but with the two best off the board they will snag the best HB in the draft and one of the best players as well. Another option could be a WR, again like the QB spot, there are none left worth a pick this high.

8. Jets – WR – Brandon Trammell

The Jets would love to move up in the draft to grab Bellows with their first selection but if that is not possible they will settle for Trammell.

9. Rams – QB – Dane Morrow

What do the rams not need? They need one of everything except HB. The building of a franchise must start somewhere though so why not with a possible franchise QB?

10. 49ers – SS – Will Barkley

The 49ers would love CB Riley to fall to them at this spot but if Pittsburgh selects him then look for the 49ers to grab the best FS available in this years draft.
