The New York Jets improve to 3-0 with their win over the Detroit Lions. After starting the game allowing an opening drive TD, going 3 and out, and then allowing another TD, the Jets defense clamped down totaling two interceptions and seven sacks. The Jets were led by second year QB Mark Sanchez who finished 12-25 with 224 yards and 3TD’s, including a PA boot and a strike in the back of the endzone to Jerricho Cotchery with 2:37 remaining in the game to take the lead 24-21, which was the final score.

On the Jets final drive on 3rd and 3, Sanchez completed a 7 yard completion to David Clowney to seal the game, but took a big hit and left the game with a torn abdominal. He will be out for 2 weeks. Also injured, is star WR Terrell Owens, who had 2 receptions in the first half for 77 yards, his highest total of the season. TO took a high big hit on a 34 yard completion down the right side of the field and broke his jaw, he will be out for 4 weeks.

The Jets go on the road without Sanchez and TO to face the Jaguars next week, but have a much needed by in week 5. Sanchez will return for the week 6 game, and TO is set to return in week 7 or 8.
